Why The Rough Draft?
A working progress = Working while progressing
A Rough Draft can be described as a raw version of our thoughts. It’s incomplete. It usually isn’t grammatically correct and contains multiple flaws.
It has great potential, but it requires some editing & hard work to make it into a beautiful masterpiece. No best-selling book or beautiful work of art is created on the first try —no business starts out making 7 figures.
Likewise, in this life, we want this beautiful, picture-perfect masterpiece for a life, but we want it to appear without embracing our rough draft. We want to just forget about the struggles, the circumstances, and the brokenness that have actually formed us into who we are. We want God to just drop this glamorous life of perfection into our laps. But in reality, God is more interested in being your life-long Editor in Chief.
You see, I did not really choose The Rough Draft, God really chose this for me. At my lowest point in life, when I thought my story had too many mistakes, God revealed to me my ultimate purpose on this Earth. Not by erasing my short-comings, but by using those short-comings to show His Hand in every aspect of my life —my faith, my well-being, and my work.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
We all have shortcomings, undesirable qualities, and lack of resources, but ultimately God gave you a purpose to fulfill on this Earth, and He will qualify and account for anything you may lack.
YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO START NOW.
I may not have the most money, but I am determined to use my voice to impact the world around me.
I may not be in my dream job, but I am determined to use my talents and strengths to add value to my company.
I may have added “unnecessary” chapters to my story, but I know it will be used for good by sharing it and encouraging others who can relate.
So essentially, The Rough Draft is about diving into how we can find beauty in the rough draft. How we can succeed and become a purpose-filled masterpiece regardless of our lack, circumstances, and past mistakes.
We’re going to learn how to walk with God even when the road gets bumpy.
We’re going to learn how to get the promotion when the work experience or education may not be there.
We’re going to learn how to live whole even when the world around us is fractured.
The Rough Draft is here to help you succeed and surpass your own expectations in any venture of life you choose to explore, rather it be in your home, in your 9-5, or in your own platform.
As a community, I want us to strengthen and encourage each other to press on and not be defined by what we lack. The Rough Draft is here to tell you that you do not have to come in this perfect package to be used by God. We’re not painting this fake picture of life; because, for the majority of us, that is not our reality. We’re going to be open and transparent and discover the purpose-filled masterpiece within the imperfect rough draft.
Although our life can be rough at times, when we learn to embrace our rough draft, God begins to make us into one of His best-sellers.
